Privacy policy
1. Who we are
McLeod Media Limited is a company registered in Scotland, company number SC877714, with its registered office at Clyde Offices, 2nd Floor, 48 West George Street, Glasgow, Scotland, G2 1BP. Learn Paid Ads (learnpaidads.com) is a project of McLeod Media Limited. In this policy “we”, “us” and “our” mean McLeod Media Limited.
We are the data controller for personal data collected through this website. Our ICO registration number is [ICO NUMBER TO BE ADDED]. You can reach us about anything in this policy at support@mcleodmedia.co.uk.
2. What we collect
We only collect what we need, and most of it you give us deliberately.
| Category | Examples | How we get it |
|---|---|---|
| Contact details | Email address, and name if you give it | You provide it when subscribing to the newsletter or unlocking a tool result |
| Tool inputs and results | Figures you enter into a calculator, and the result it produces | Entered by you when using a free tool |
| Saved leads | Email address plus the URL, product and grade for a Product Page Grader or Growth Checkup result you unlocked | Stored automatically when you choose to unlock a full result |
| Marketing preferences | Whether you have subscribed, when, and whether you later unsubscribed | Our email platform (Kit) |
| Technical data | IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring source | Automatically, via cookies and similar technologies, where you have consented |
We do not intentionally collect special category data, and we ask that you do not send it to us. Figures you enter into a calculator are used only to produce your result and, where you unlock it, are stored against the email you provided so we can follow up on it: they are not used for anything beyond that.
3. Why we use it
- To show you the result of the tool or calculator you used.
- To send the report or model you unlocked, and to follow up on it.
- To send marketing emails where you have asked to receive them, and to measure whether they are read.
- To understand how the site is used so we can improve it, where you have consented to analytics.
- To measure the performance of our own advertising on Meta, Google and LinkedIn, where you have consented to advertising cookies.
- To keep records we are legally required to keep, and to deal with any dispute.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it to make automated decisions that have a legal effect on you.
4. Legal bases
Under the UK GDPR we rely on the following:
- Consent: for marketing emails, analytics cookies and advertising cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests: to run and secure the site, respond to enquiries, and deliver the tool result or resource you asked for. We have considered your interests and rights in reaching this position.
- Legal obligation: for tax, accounting and company law records.
5. Cookies
Essential cookies run the site and are always on. Analytics and advertising cookies only load once you have agreed. Full detail, and the controls, are in the cookie policy. You can change your choice at any time via cookie settings.
6. Who we share it with
We use a small number of processors to run the site. Each acts on our instructions under a written agreement.
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Kit (ConvertKit) | Email marketing and newsletter delivery |
| Website host and database provider | Serving this website, its logs, and saved tool results |
| Analytics and advertising measurement, subject to your consent | |
| Meta | Advertising measurement, subject to your consent |
| Advertising measurement, subject to your consent | |
| Accountant and professional advisers | Accounts, tax and legal advice |
We may also disclose data where we are required to by law, or where it is necessary to establish or defend a legal claim.
7. International transfers
Some of our providers are based outside the UK, principally in the United States. Where data leaves the UK we rely on UK adequacy regulations or on the International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU standard contractual clauses, together with any additional safeguards the transfer requires.
8. How long we keep it
- Unlocked tool results and leads that did not become a subscriber or client: up to 24 months from the last contact.
- Marketing subscribers: until you unsubscribe, and then a suppression record so we do not email you again.
- Website analytics: as set out in the cookie policy.
9. Security
Access to systems is protected by strong unique passwords and two-factor authentication where available. Access is limited to those who need it. No system is perfect, but if a breach were to put your rights at risk we would report it to the ICO within 72 hours and tell you where required.
10. Your rights
You have the right to be informed, to access your data, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have data erased, to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. To exercise any of these, email support@mcleodmedia.co.uk. We will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you raised it with us first so we can put it right.
11. Children
This site is aimed at people running paid advertising for a business. We do not knowingly collect data about anyone under 18.
12. Changes
We will update this policy when our practices change. The version number and date at the top will change with it, and material changes will be flagged on the site.
